Synchronizing files between multiple devices often feels like an unnecessarily painful process. Recognizing this, Memeo made AutoSync easy to install, configure, and use.

Keeping files in two locations synchronized is a simple task with Memeo AutoSync.

AutoSync uses Microsoft’s .Net framework. We were pleasantly surprised that the Memeo installer took care of the .Net installation. Instead of just throwing its hands up and telling us to go download .Net, the installer checked to see whether it was already installed and then offered to download and install .Net for us. Once this was taken care of, the Memeo installer continued on its merry way. Other installers could learn a thing or two from Memeo.

Using AutoSync is a simple, three-step process. Select a folder on your computer that you want to synchronize or back up, then select a folder on the destination device. The destination can be a USB flash drive, a hard drive, another desktop or laptop computer, an iPod, or anything you can access from the computer, including network locations. After you select the two folders and give the sync plan a name, AutoSync will synchronize the two folders, ensuring that both have the same content. You can create multiple sync plans, each with its own set of folders. You can also interleave or nest sync plans so that a change to one sync plan cascades through other sync plans.

Once it’s set up, AutoSync works behind the scenes. Whenever you add or remove a file, or change a name, AutoSync automatically updates the synced folders. If a change affects another sync plan, the changes will be reflected at every level. Any changes you make on a portable device, such as an iPod or a laptop, will be synced the next time you connect the device to your computer.

Additional capabilities include verifying sync, pausing synchronization, and deleting sync plans.
