Prevent Data Slowdowns Innovative New Diskeeper Software Actually Prevents Hard Disk Fragmentation |

Jump to first occurrence of: [DISKEEPER] Over time and right from the start, fragmentation works to slow systems down and slice into the life of the disks, eventually bringing startup and shutdown processes to a crawl and often causing seemingly random crashes and freezes. You might notice that computers are becoming sluggish, or find that the IT staff has to replace hard drives too often, and chalk up these events as necessary expenses. But if you compare these costs with the modest cost of prevention, we think you’d prefer the preventative route. Diskeeper, a long-time leader in disk defragmentation solutions, offers Diskeeper and other products designed to avert storage system slowdowns and failures. The company’s latest product, Diskeeper 2010, goes a step beyond solving fragmentation problems by actually preventing fragmentation before it happens. Beginning in 1986, Diskeeper has been the leading innovator of defragmentation software. Diskeeper developed the first defragmenter for Windows NT and partnered with Microsoft to integrate defrag features directly into the Windows operating system. The company has since made additional partnerships with top manufacturers, including Dell, HP, Intel, and Lenovo, to help ensure that their customers enjoy a smooth computing experience. In essence, Diskeeper was prominent in making defrag easy and widely available. Over the past two decades, Diskeeper has been responsible for numerous industry firsts: first defragmenter certified for Windows; first defrag software deployable across networks and to give administrators a defrag management console; first defrag software with an “intelligent scheduling” feature; first to announce defrag with support for Windows 7; and first to introduce fragmentation-prevention technology; among many others. Diskeeper is also the company behind V-locity, the only solution available for total virtual disk optimization. The returns Diskeeper offers are easy to see. “Our ROI has been in productivity savings,” says Mark A. Gainer, IT director for Banker Steel Company in Lynchburg, Va. Diskeeper especially benefits Banker Steel’s large SQL-based database program and Microsoft Ex-change server. “The IT staff does not have to run utility and maintenance programs to keep the servers optimized and running smoothly as when new,” says Gainer. “This saves us at least 20 IT hours per month.” Building on its history of innovation, and particularly with its successful flagship solution, Diskeeper will release Diskeeper 2010 this month. In addition to defragmenting files when the a system is idle, thereby producing no performance lags while maintaining healthy hard drives, Diskeeper 2010 will prevent fragmentation from happening in the first place. Thanks to Diskeeper’s newly developed IntelliWrite technology, Diskeeper 2010 keeps disks clean by intelligently writing files, preventing up to 85% of the fragmentation that can occur during the normal file-writing process. This breakthrough capability will undoubtedly increase ROI for customers by extending the life and fast performance of new and existing drives. The updated software will be available in multiple versions to suit the needs of individuals as well as organizations of all sizes.
