Compatibility with online music providers is included through support for Windows Media DRM (digital rights management) technology. In addition, Gateway bundles the unit with a complimentary one-month membership to Audible, an online provider of audio books and other audio media. The DMP-X20 plays MP3, WMA (Windows Media Audio), and Audible files. For FM radio, the DMP-X20 includes a built-in tuner with the ability to preset 12 radio stations. The device has a five-band equalizer with five preset modes and one programmable mode. The DMP-X20 features stereo output, a pair of stereo earphones, a built-in microphone, and a built-in clock with timer. Slightly thicker than an iPod, the DMP-X20 measures 0.83 x 2.64 x 3.99 inches and weighs 7.7 ounces with the battery in place. It connects to your PC via a Hi-Speed USB (Universal Serial Bus) 2.0 port and cable, and the device also has a headphone jack and power input connection. Playback modes include Repeat All, Random Play, Resume Play, Skip Playback, Repeat Shuffle, and One-track Repeat. In addition, you can browse music by album, artist, genre, track, or playlist. Minimum system requirements include Windows 2000/XP, a 233MHz Pentium II processor, 64MB of memory, 20MB of hard drive space, a USB 2.0 port, and a CD-ROM drive. With the DMP-X20, Gateway includes a wired remote, stereo earphones, a USB 2.0 cable, an RCA audio cable for connecting to a home stereo system, an AC adapter, a carrying case with belt clip, and documentation. The device comes with a 90-day warranty.
